Succession Testimony (Waitara’s Estate, c.1900s) No. 352 – The only known instance of Mauruuru personally giving evidence in the Native Land Court was during a succession case for her mother’s older cousin, Waitara. This case concerned shares in the Rua-o-te-moko block at Normanby (South Taranaki).
Mauruuru testifys that Waitara died in 1902 and he left no issue and took from Mother. She did not know if the Mother had any other children and there Mauruuru's mother was a younger cousin. The following whakapapa is given:

All were taken as slaves Henare and Rangi (Rangitamoana) returning sooner were included in lands while Kaaro and witness Mauruuru are children.
I have a lot of children who have no land.

I admit the claim of Henares children and Kaaros children but ask them to consent and also ask Rangi Tamoana to consent to proportion that Mauruuru and the children of Kaaro take share.
